I watch how truckers and buses change lanes. Put the turn signals on, slowly move to the lane you want. Totally ignore everyone else, they will not run into you. I think the trick is to get your front bumper in front of thiers in your lane of choice.

With merging traffic, I maintain my speed. They have three options, speed up, slow down or hit the side of my rig.
