We have a small TT towed by a SUV. I know it's not a popular opinion around her, but I much prefer s SUV over a pick up. I just have no need or desire to own a pick up, in the rare event I can't fit something in the back of the SUV I can throw in a utility trailer.
When we travel, 99% of the time, it's just me and my wife, so we chose a small TT. It's easy to squeeze into the side yard next to my garage, making it more likely we use it. If I had to go pick it up from a storage yard every time we used it, I'm not so sure we'd use it as often.
That being said, when I retire in about 5 years (hopefully!), we plan to do plenty of extended trips. At that time, it's likely we will seriously consider a fifth wheel.
