Leveling kits and travel trailers

How do leveling kits impact towing aa travel trailers? I recently got a new truck (same model as before just a new year) and tow with a WD hitch. My old truck had a leveling kit which caused the truck to squat ever so slightly, even with the WD hitch. Before I get another leveling kit on this truck, is there a good reason not to? It isn't like my front end is sitting in the air or anything, or should I be good getting it and adjusting the height settings on the WD hitch?

Thanks, Rex

Depends on why you want the leveling kit. It won't change anything when towing, other than to make the front end sit higher. The rear will squat the same regardless of a leveling kit or not... it just may look like it is squatting more because it will probably be lower than the front.

I've got one on my F250 and haven't noticed any adverse effects while towing.

Very good point, it just appears that it is squatting because the front is higher. I do the leveling kit because I want more front end clearance when not pulling a trailer. Also, I will eventually end back up on bigger tires and will need the extra space. Thanks.

If you don't like the look of it squatting you could always bag it.

It really isn't that bad but in my mind I kept thinking the front end being higher was making the back in sit that much lower. Wasn't thinking about the fact that part was untrue and that it just looked that way.
  • Oncoming drivers wont care for your headlights blinding them. Get em adjusted...
