There is a significant difference between a load of lumber and a TC in that you rarely fill your truck bed with lumber and head off across the country, or leave the lumber in the bed for months/years at a stretch.
I agree , that's why you are allowed to simply put a red flag at the end of long load . If t becomes part of the truck it needs lights as all overhanging campers have .
You make a great point here. For all the FAFF over license plates, nobody ever complains about having to put/maintain lights on their camper. I should be able to hang a red flag on the back and hit the road.
Why do I need lights? It's just CARGO, right? Oh, but lights are MONDO KEWL, all shiny and blinky in the dark...
