If you don't want "junk", I suggest you go buy all the materials to build your own, to your own specs. See how long it takes and how much it costs. After I retired, I took a cargo trailer and did just that. The best materials, most everything was USA made, and best practices. Took 3 months. Sold it a year later for what I had in it, less labor. Point is, I'm pretty amazed that the RV industry can mass produce a camper like mine for less than 20 grand, that performs its job and goes down the road at 65 mph. Is it perfect? No. But I can fix or replace just about anything that goes wrong or find someone who can.
Also, remember that this forum is a very tiny, minuscule representation of RV ownership. It also lends itself to reporting many more failures than success. In fact, let's find out.
