The OP has one post on this Forum and this is it.
It sounds to me like he went into this purchase with many false expectations. The fact that the selling dealer is 6 hours from his home only exacerbated any warranty issues. Of course, he is not entitled to any compensation.
I cringe every time I hear someone that sells something to another with a known defect that is somewhat hidden. They are basically thinking, "HA,ha I got one over on you, it's your problem now". There isn't anything lower, IME.
I hope post #2 isn't more of the same with their new rig.
With the warm welcome extended by some, I can understand why the OP has just a single post. I expect most of us have been in his/her position at some point. Mine came some thirty years ago with a $40K boat. I had no idea just how much I didn't know and assumed the marine industry handled warranty problems and customer service issues in the same way as the auto makers. I've never been a proponent of more government controls but I'd sure like to see the RV and boat manufacturers and dealers held to the same standards as the vehicle folks.
I would disagree that any of the problems listed are indicative of false expectations; perhaps you could enlighten me as to which of his complaints is unreasonable. And what does the distance from the dealership have to do with the quality of repair? I have no idea what the legal issues are here (and having sold the trailer sure doesn't help any with that) but I'd sure be getting in touch with Georgia's consumer protection staff to see if there was any recourse.
I don't think I'd have traded the trailer either at least not until well after I was on a first name basis with everyone involved along with a few consumer affairs folks, legal council and at least one local news station. As to 'sticking' someone else with your problems, there's a reason for the difference between what a dealership allows on a trade-in and what they'll ask for that same unit once its on their lot. I'm pretty sure the dealership saw a few 'flags' with someone trading a six month old trailer and adjusted their allowance accordingly. Now, if was an individual to individual transaction, I'd agree with you.
Broda, I hope this doesn't discourage you from camping and from participating on this board. Both can be a lot of fun.
