Lightning Hit Our System Monitor

As stated, lightning hit our property! 3 TV's,the TC, the truck, the boat, the dryer etc.

The TC generator would not turn over and the system monitor above the stove shows the tanks as all full, all the time. This was not the case prior to the hit. The repair shop put a new control board in the generator and it is purring like a kitten once again. They are having problems locating the system monitor panel and Lance told them it was not available and would need to be retro-fitted with another. We would prefer not to have some retro-fit if at all possible. Does anyone know where we could get a replacement for the one we have? 2000 Lance 1010

  • I was going to reply that you might check out an RV salvage yard such as Colaw in Missouri but see your problem locating the part is solved. You can keep this in mind if you need another OEM part down the road. I'll have to give credit to my DD, Kohldadsr, a long time lurker on this forum, who told me about Colaw as I've never been there.
  • BULLETIN: Spoke to repair shop late Friday and they stated that they had located one and it was being shipped! :B

Now I have discovered that the on-board battery charger isn't charging. Another insurance substitute! :(

We'll be glad when everything is fixed!!!!!:B

If your handy, SeeLevel is the way to go. One of the better mods I did to our TC.

    Good Luck!

  • I have a newer Lance and when my monitor panel went, the monitor manufacturer told me they don't make those any longer. They wanted $75 for a new board, but they never came through. I had a See Level installed (pricey because I couldn't do it myself) and it is so much better.
  • Your panel looks just like the one in our Bigfoot. As others have said, you may be able to find a manufacturer's name somewhere inside.
  • I'm an OEM fan too. But in this case, the after market monitor systems are WAY better than what you are showing. Check out SeeLevel. I just replaced the OEM that looked like yours where you have no idea within 1/3 tank where it really was. Check the reviews on the forums too. Install is a snap. The hardest part is making the panel look pretty.
  • I have a sneaky suspicion that lance just uses an off the shelf tank level monitor and fits it to the range hood. At any rate there doesn't appear to be anything too special about it and you could buy a standard monitor and doctor it up to work with the same wires and indicator lights.
  • Sorry to hear about that. Lightning strikes can pretty much be counted upon to fry everything remotely resembling electrical, so don't forget to check switches and even wiring for shorts and burnouts.
  • If you can get behind that front panel and see (or remove) the actual electronics display board, there may be info on it that will enable you to order one. These things are pretty universal - most mfrs just mount them behind their own custom panels.
