Lippert axle bearings

I want to buy a bearing kit to keep as extra, but there seems to be at least 3 different sizes that would go with my axles. My TT is in storage,(45 minutes away) so I can't just take a look. Is there a typical size or do I need to wait till I get her out next.

  • My GVWR sticker claimed I have the #4400 axle and I looked up the part number off the Dexter site. The bearings and seal part numbers are standard and you can get them at any auto part shop.

  • It doesn't really help much with your camper being stored so far away. Our Dexter axles had a label or were stamped with part number information. You may be able to get the information you need without pulling the rotors... but will have to crawl under and likely have to do some research online.

I did have a bit of a challenge getting the right seal for our Dexters... the part number on them was the Dexter part. The first auto parts store I visited could not find the correct cross reference to their stock items. The second parts store dug a little deeper online and found the right seals. Bearings may be the same.

  • I guess I will just have to take them apart. They are almost 1 year old with maybe 4,000 miles on them. Can't hurt to check them out.

I took mine out for this exact purpose and guess what? No numbers at all on them!
Nor was there a country of origin but I'm pretty sure I know where they are from.

I thought the same until I took a magnifying glass out and the numbers were there, very faintly.

If I were you I would take one hub off and get the exact numbers off the OEM parts (bearings & seals). Buying the wrong parts will not help you at all. :)

  • Buy all the sizes and take back what doesn't fit at a later date.
