If you go a little farther north to IR 6110, and make your way east, then south, on many un-numbered 'local unimproved roads', you can wind up about 3000 feet above the confluence of the LCR and the Colorado.

That's also the picture in my signature.
I might be able to give you a few co-ordinates -- but one really has to be there to see which 'roads' are passable.
