Brakes are a function of the axle ratings.
"Gross Axle Weight Rating is the rated load-carrying capacity of an individual axle and wheel assembly. (It represents the load that may be steadily sustained by the components in the system; i.e., tires, rims, hubs, bearing, axles, brakes, suspension, sub frame, etc. with the GAWR limited by the components with the lowest working rating".
The OP DRW Ford has a 9000 RAWR which will carry most if not all the trucks camper. He needs to reweigh the trucks front and rear axles separately to know what numbers he looking at. I carry unladin axle load ticket in all of my trucks. They come in handy.
Example only.... Many one ton DRW trucks weigh around 3500 lbs on the rear axle which leaves 5500 lb for a payload. Granted many RV folks and 100 percent of working trucks the same size are over the trucks GVWR but its not illegal to do so. Just his states registered gross or a combined weight (if any) or the trucks axle/tire load ratings.
