Locking Lug Nuts

I would use a thin cutoff wheel on a 4" grinder. They will cut through anything. Scary part from a security standpoint is that my DeWalt 18v cordless grinder with a cutoff wheel can defeat any hardened padlock or bike chain or wire rope cable in a heartbeat.

I have McGard wheel locks sold by GM. When I purchased them McGard keeps a registry of keys. I registered my locks with them and if I need a replacement key/socket I can contact them and they will tell me which key fits if you do not have that information. I think the GM dealer has various keys to fit but it helps to know which one works. Maybe Ford does something similar. Good luck.

I helped a neighbor one time where he could not find his "key" for the locking lug nuts. We were able to clamp on a pair of vice grips, really tight, and hit the vice grips with a hammer, sort of like a makeshift impact wrench. We were able to loosen the locking nuts enough to remove them. Of course, we deformed the locking lug nuts so much that they couldn't be used again.

Yes, look around the jack for a black plastic pouch. It may be up under the seat in front of it.

Look for it around your tire changing tools.

Did you look in the glove box?

Most tire shops have a tool to remove them without damage. Lead filled, pounded into the cut out area then uses a socket...it works!

I have hammered a few 6pt impact sockets on to pull a lock off.

air chisel ..get the end in the "star" and chisel it backwards till it rotates off.

then never put locking nuts on again ...no one is going to steal your wheels

if you have a good quality socket set you can look for a 12 point socket that barely... and I stress barely fits over the locking lug nut and with hammer pound it on then use this socket to remove it. Do not use a 6point socket 12pt has better "bite".

Or you can spend a few bucks and go to your local auto supply store or tool supply shop/store and purchase a kit like ATD socket set, that will remove locking lug nuts.

edited hard 12pt 6pt mixed up sorry, using the socket will damaged the out side of the key/lock but nut the key/lock pattern itself... allows it to be re-used.
