I enjoy reading media like MotorTrend, Car & Driver, R&T, etc, but find their writers are so car biased it makes it hard to put a lot of faith in their truck reviews.
I will take this review with a grain of salt.
Agree completely. Interesting reading this compared to their review of the 6.7 Cummins, though.
http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2014-ram-2500-hd-crew-cab-4x4-diesel-test-reviewIn their testing the bigger Cummins accelerates faster in every category, brakes slightly better, goes around a skidpad better and returned better fuel economy. Despite the fact that the long term XD is nearly 1000 lbs lighter than high end (heavy) Ram they tested. The DEF usage seems much higher on the XD too.
Given that real world pricing between the two trucks is pretty close I again question what niche Nissan is attempting to fill with the XD. Really the only advantage is a slightly softer ride, but that hardly seems worth the compromises - especially when you factor in the semi-float axles, CP4 pump and timing chains.
