Probably, but it's a known issue that can be really significant. It was certainly a factor when I picked a Ram back in 2015. The current Duramax doesn't have one. They're all good trucks, I'd personally lean towards the one without the known issue. Buying used that might make me lean Ram, new probably Duramax.
I totally agree; if I were shopping for a new diesel truck today it would almost certainly be a GM.
