Stopped at a local dealer today and test drove a 2008 Silverado 2600HD with the 6.6L Duramax engine. It's in good shape, less than 73k miles, and they are asking less than $30k which is the upper end of my
I have the same truck, 4wd, extended cab, bought new and have around 61K miles.
Interstate solo at 70mph, fuel mileage 18-20. Around town sucks, but I don't do much in town driving.
Towing an 8k trailer I get 11-12 mpg.
Regens, don't even know when its happening.
The only problem I have had is brake controller replaced under warranty. Sure is nice compared to after market.
As for price, I bought mine for $37000, truck listed at $52000. If you remember the financial crisis of '08, they weren't giving them away but a good deal was easy to get. It seems to me that year should be in the low $20s. It is 7 years old. Of course if you have been looking for trucks, I sure you probably know the market.
The fuel tank is 26 gal but I have a 40 gal Tranfer flow fuel/toolbox. Expensive but nice.
The '08-11 seem to get a bad rap because of the regens, but I love this truck. It is my first diesel and hoping it lasts to be my last.
If I remember correctly, this is an LTZ.
