Looking at a 96 Lance Squire 500 in the frozen tundra

Hi folks, I know this is not a good time to go inspecting truck campers considering the weather here in the mid-west but when opportunity knocks and all of that.
I am asking for some advice mostly but not limited to pluming.
As stated she is a 1996 Lance Squire 500, she came from sunny CA. this past summer and currently resides in OH where the temp is currently a balmy 5 deg f. When I asked the owner about winterizing he said they opened the drain valves, when I asked about antifreeze or blowing out the lines he really didn’t know what I was talking about. Sigh..
Any way to tell what sort of shape the tanks, lines, drains, p traps are in until this thing thaws out? Pictures indicate that it is currently sitting in a rural area on the back of a truck.
Owner states that the camper is in wonderful condition and all worked as it should when it was last used this past summer.. Price is around 3000, does this sound like a fair price in its unknown condition?
I am lead to believe that this has an aluminum roof, is there much maintenance that should have been done to it?
I plan on opening every access panel looking for soft spots and water stains, I doubt if I’ll see much water is it may be all frozen. I plan on firing up the heater, would it be a bad idea to turn on the ac? The refir? The water heater?
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated..
Jim.

  • Check for a ruptured water heater tank!

If you have access to 110 volts, a hair dryer will help you inspect the water pump, water lines, and fixtures.

If it has an outside shower, that may be frozen and busted.

The water lines may be in good shape, but some of the brass connectors may be busted too.

I picked up a TC from Sandusky, Ohio in February a couple years ago and the water heater was ruptured and the outside shower connector had busted. Other than those two things, all else was still solid.
