Since you are going to keep the TT, it would be good to contrast your on-the-road domiciles to include a small, hardside truck camper. That being said, examine the condition of:
1. Every one's knees/hips/back. Can you climb the steps over and over again without grief? And, can you climb the 'big' steps up to the slumber nook, several times per night? (You did say a retirement TC, right?) Can any pets you bring along climb the stairs?
2. Your traveling style. If you still tend to go to a destination and spend more than 3 days at a time, a TC may be superfluous. If you would like to taste the delicacies of staying only one night in:
a. a campground
b. a relative's driveway
c. a primitive dry camp
d. down a two track to the creek
e. grinding across said creek to the uninhabited other side
f. camouflage camping along the street in a city, large or small
g. in a National Park
h. in a Forest Service, BLM, COE, Widlife, fisheries campground
i. just pulling off the road for a 7 hour cessation of travel.
j. traveling the Road to the Sun highway in Glacier (22 foot limit)
k. a high-bucks hotel
l. camping in all four seasons (with a four season camper of course) and 4WD.
I have noticed everyone's travel style varies. Jeanie and I are 66 and 70 vintage and our parts still move well. So far so good. In many ways folks traveling style is attitude. We like to keep moving and hit the high places along the way. For us, it's the traveling that is underlined, not the campground at the end of the day. Recently we mixed it up as much as we could taking advantage of whatever situation emerged that day with not a whole lot of planning. Works for us. It boils down to your traveling style. Examine it well before you jump.
