We had 6.0's in our 450 and 550's at work. They were all treated poorly with nothing more than oil changes at irregular intervals. Most made it until around the 200k mile range but I can't imagine the hours. I'd work 10-12 hour days in the winter and never shut it off. I firmly believe the "drive it like you stole it comment" applies to these engines, cause we sure did. :)
Lot's of the issues had with mine was mis-diagnoses and money spent where it shouldn't have been, causing the company to scrap them due to expense. For example, four injectors being replaced when it was paint from the fuel tank was clogging the fuel lines. In our application (heavy utility trucks) I'd say they did OK, they really were abused.
One of our mechanics once told me most of his 6.0 issues came from people that only used them occasionally for RV towing. Not trucks being used for work like tow trucks, ambulances, etc etc.
I also asked him once about buying one and giving him a blank check to bullet proof what ever. He declined to take my money. That alone told me all I needed to know about owning one myself.
