That is true, as well as cost factor. Most fire departments and EMS services in my area have abandoned Ford, as well as the Freightliner and Navistar based rigs. The former for the mechanical issues, all three of them because of their cost to purchase. Noted something interesting yesterday, the town we live in has a new unit with a Ford chassis, but it's a gasser.
