Looking for a 2.5" receiver hitch

I'm looking for some suggestions for a 2.5" adjustable receiver hitch. The ones I am finding are all north of $200 unless they have poor reviews (slop in them). I would also prefer one that is easily adjustable using pins and cotter keys versus nut and bolt to adjust the height. Any suggestions?

  • I just purchased from Fastway Trailer, a Flash E series adjustable ball mount, 2.5" shank aluminum drop hitch, with 2"-2 5/6" flip over ball. Was right at $200. I think it was about $225 plus a 10% discount code.
    1800/18000lb hitch.
Was the best price I could find for 2.5" shank adjustable quality drop hitch. All the other quality steel and aluminum ones were about 1/3 more in price. This one was about $50 more than the cheapo aluminum ones.

Can't comment on longevity, but it appears to be quality.
  • Receiver or draw bar (also known as : shank) ?

    Agree with RangerSmith...

x2...although I think you should expect to pay closer to $300 than $200.

Have and have had for at least 15 years, 4 (!) vehicles with 2.5 receivers on them. Over the past 20 years, have used a variety of straight and adjustable hitches. Would suggest that, to get the quality you need, the adjustable hitch should be heavy enough that it takes some effort to pick it up and put it in. Very unscientific, but I've found a couple of times that the lighter adjustable hitches don't hold up if you're pulling anywhere close to what the 2.5" receiver can.
