You can't fix a rotor that got hot by turning it. The bad spot in the rotor has to do with the molecules in the cast. The place that got hotter then the rest will now get hotter quicker and expand. It might seem good on the lathe but when it heats up it won't be flat. Better check the caliper on the one you said was hot.
If the aftermarket brakes with the holes and slots were so good, some manufacturer would be using them. It may be the way you use the brakes and not the brakes themselves. You can get OEM rotors really cheap and you can pay good money for them but you don't need to get them for a race car.
