Oct 01, 2014$400 to turn rotors? You could have got a pretty good set of rotors for that amount. Solid rotors will end up being the cheapest option and should work just fine. Heavy duty versions are even better since the rotors will be thicker and will resist warping a little bit better. Slotted rotors will help with cooling. Cross drilled rotors are much like slotted, but you run the risk of cracks forming around the holes under severe duty like towing. Personally I would stay away from any that were drilled. Also, a lot of shops will turn solid rotors only. While drilled and slotted rotors can be turned, you just have to find a shop with the right tools and willing to do it. Slotted or cross drilled will help out with the cooling, but you'll likely will run into the same problem again if you don't rethink your strategy at the top. Slow down at the top and use your engine more. This will save you money in the long run.
