looking for ideas (recovering camper from mud)

Cutting down some plywood would probably be the easiest. Like SoundGuy said, cut them down to make a couple of tracks and drive over them. I've seen people attach sections of 2x4's strapped to the tires which function like really big cleats. It can get you out of some of the bad stuff, but it would probably tear up the field.
