Looking for suggestions to defer drip on camper

What we have going on is a rusted spot above the windshield, seems right where there has been a drip from the nose of the camper for years. We are looking for any suggestions to defer rain while camped. We do have a cover that we hope will help while not on the road and parked in storage. We have a new windshield now but were told the patch above may only last a few years. Seems the windshield was replaced by a previous owner and not done well. Believe it or not, the starter was trying to start even when the truck was running. We got the truck to the mechanic. The leak from the rusted spot had leaked into the fuse box. The mechanic heard the horn honking and no one was in the truck. Amazing things do occur, right?

  • I am gonna guess by your sig. that you have the 01 F550 and that the top of your windshield channel/roofedge is rusted out which is leading to water intrusion into the cab and engine compartment causing all sorts of gremlins to pop up... Option 1 "quik and dirty" follow the caulking advice above to stop the water intrusion immediatly and find some peace for now. Option 2 Take the TC off and get the truck to a good bodyshop that will not only repair the current damage correctly but also check for any other problems this may have caused. This is an extremely important area of the body as it is a support area that works between the body and windshield so please do not skimp on repairs in this area. Good Luck

Try some of this http://rvgutters.com/ezervgutters.aspx Don't let the initial shipping price scare you. When you get to check-out there is an option for USPS for around $6. I bought 10 foot of black and just installed it last night on my 5th wheel. Used it over a storage door that didn't seal very well. I think it cost less than $27 shipped.

Agree, bought a 10 ft roll from CW and put it above the windshield of the MN to keep water from roof rolloing down over windshieldl. Works great. Comes in white, black and tan.

  • The simplest fix is to park on a gradient such that water flows mostly to the back of the camper.

Another option, to expound on what was previously posted about caulk, is that you can grab the garden hose and run water down off the front of the camper. You need to see the normal water path to determine how to divert the flow. After you see the flow path, it is up to your own creativity as to how to divert it as the options are only limited by your imagination and the materials you can get your hands on.
  • I'd try tape: clear shipping tape, duct tape, or waterproof tape for a very temporary fix.

Otherwise, you'll have to pull the windshield to do a proper fix.
