Well, I guess I'm just cheap -- instead of a Melitta, which works fine but requires special filters, I use an ordinary coffee basket scavenged out of an ordinary broken Mr. Coffee machine. I stuck a 3/16 inch stainless bolt in the hole to slow down the rate of flow. (There's a nut on the bottom, so the screw stays put.)
Then I use an ordinary paper filter and pour the boiling water into the basket, which sits on top of a thermos-type carafe. We bring Starbucks ground coffee when we camp -- at home I grind my own every morning.
This method makes the best coffee I've ever had. Easy cleanup -- just dump the paper filter and the grounds into the trash. Nothing to wash.
The funny part is that I started doing this while camping and it has replaced my coffee machine at home!
