Well, I'm one of those without a TC, however my first camper was a '67 GMC pickup with a bed cover that I fashioned out of a liberty boat cover that I liberated from the trash at the shipyard. It looked like a soft-sided cap. We threw an air mattress in the back but only slept in there when the tent got wet (or on one trip to Tahoe, covered in snow). DW#1 and our 6 month old DD went all over CA, Idaho and Montana in that rig. Great times - for a 20 year old :)
There's a protocol for forums that new members don't seem to understand. The value of a forum is not entirely in the wisdom of the members currently posting. It's really in the history of the answers to problems in the past. In other words, the search feature. New members blast in and post a question without any kind of research at all. In some cases, the question they post has a running thread on the same page.
The biggest issue I see as a moderator is what can only be called butt-hurt. As Eric said, it seems that no one has a sense or humor here. Everyone is so easily offended that a mods' inbox gets filled regularly with "notify moderator" emails. We'll go in and try to fix it, which causes more butt-hurt on the part of the offending poster. As Brad can tell you, it ain't easy.
And finally, there's a general lack of civility everywhere. It shows up on forums as well, although RV.net isn't as bad as some other RV related forums. And certainly the TC people are probably the mellowest of all.
