The flapper shown in Gene&Ginny's post is what everyone is speaking of. Over the years and all three of our TT's, I have replaced seven or eight of these flappers. On occasion we forgot to fasten them down, and some disappeared with the locks still in the lock position. Last year we made it to the next CG and when I went to release the locks on the flap, it just fell to the ground. I came up with a fix to correct the manufacturers mistake. I took the flapper, trimmed the top rib off, cut an aluminum coat hanger just as long as the original pins and flapper were. I used Loctite STIK'N SEAL Outdoor Adhesive and glued the wire permanently on the flapper. Once the adhesive was completly cured, I bowed it just enough to slide it into the housing. We have made numerous trips with it since, and I still have the same flapper. The plastic of their flapper pins are just flimsy.
I used aluminum as eventually steel might have caused problems with rust.
