loud generators
We try to boondock when we get out but some of the places we like to go boondockin is limited. As a result we will stay in a campground . They don't offer any type of hookups only a table and a fire ...

Personally I believe its the new breed of "camper". We camped on the Blue ridge Parkway for 20 year. Primitive campgrounds. Cool mountains, no AC needed. In those 20 years we NEVER heard a generator. Everyone that camped there was prepared for no electricity. All had lanterns, and gas stoves, coolers, and such. It was nice quiet camping.
Forward to just a few years ago. The new "camper" can't live with out electricity for 1/2 day. So now the nice quiet primitive CGs sound like truck stops. And I don't care what kind of generator you have. It is too loud for a primitive CG on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We are talking about CGs where the hiss of gas lanterns can be heard for over 100 yards. Where If I strike a match, the folks 3 sites over look to see what happened.
So the new breed of "campers" or as they are truly known camperwannabes. Go to the primitive CGs with their generators, stink up the place, run off the wildlife, and then go back to work on Monday, and bragg how they roughed it over the weekend.
What did we do. We started camping in the campgrounds around the BRP that have full hookups. It's much quieter, and the animals drop by.
IMOP. IF you just got to have electricity. Go to a CG that provides it. Don't screw camping up for every one else. OR you can do what old time campers do. buy a flashlight, a camp stove, and some propane lanterns. That is all you will need to camp in the High Country of NC. you won't even need a cooler. a good battery will run a fridge for 4 or 5 days with out needing recharging.
Well said, agree 100% !!!
Yes, let's keep all of these horrible "new" people out, they aren't real campers!!!!!
Sheesh! Really? This is just plain being intolerant. Pretty offensive to most of us that would never on purpose ruin somebody else's camping experience, before we head back to work on Monday and brag about "camping". Ya, there are people that do not care, but they have always been there and always will be. Probably, burning some dang smoky camp fire too. And God forbid they might have children...
I remember this same attitude nearly killed off the Ham Radio hobby. Keep all these "no code" techs out! They aren't "real" Hams!!! They'll just ruin the hobby for everyone else... Never mind that the old dudes were dieing out, nobody used morse code, not even the Navy anymore, and the government was chomping at the bit to take their spectrum away and auction it to the highest bidder.
It's not a productive attitude, and it won't work in the long run. I don't like the loud generators either, they are not something I want to camp near. But if the dang rules allow them... Then they are allowed. I'll move on to someplace else. If I'm there, and they show up with one, am I thrilled about it? No. Is it inconsiderate? Probably. But, I'm the one with the problem, if they are following the rules...
This country, as great as it is, does not provide you with the right to not be offended. Suck it up folks. Get along. It's all good, and it's always better than the bragging on Monday...
