This post really proves one point. The OP stated he really loved his 6.0. The same bunch of Ford bashers that bash every 6.0 post jump in with nothing to add to his post but just to spout the same old c---p you always do. You guys need to get a life. Just stating facts you all know.
So would you be first in line to recommend that a friend buy a 2003 to 2008 6.0 with more than 100,000 miles on it?
Yes, likely less than 5% were truly, meaning lost head gaskets. The OP even stated that he needed to replace the FICM and EGR cooler.
Yes part of the issues is that Ford hopped the 6.0 up a bit, then when a owner chipped it it was just too much.
Read the posts, many from current and past 6.0 owners, some positive, others issues of $5,000 to $10,000 in repairs.
Once again you 6.0 bashers prove my point. You read the OP's post and heard what you wanted then jump right in with your normal bashing. You say the OP replaced the ficm and the EGR cooler. No, he replaced the FICM and the EGR valve. Big difference and both minor repairs. When it comes to a 6.0 thread it is true some of you folks jump in with out facts.
