Low Buck Dually Build

After getting a nice bubble in the sidewall on my 95 f350 I decided it might be a good idea to look into a dually. I did not want to sell the 95 and looked into the possibility of converting the 95 to dually. Then a customer says he is parting out a dually. I went to go check it out and ended coming home with it for $1,800. It's a 99 f350,powerstroke,4wd,4door.It was well worn but with a little elbow grease it's coming along nice. Sold the front bumper, built new trans, exhaust, gauges, tires, ball joints and little paint. I took it out for a trial run to the eastern sierras with my son. Great trip. Have a 1 5/8" spacer for roof clearance and it is not enough. Thumped the roof hard but no damage to truck or camper. Have about 6k invested. Much better drive with the dually. Here are a few pics.

SO they where going to part out the F-350 just because the transmission was going bad? What a great deal to get that truck. The older 7.3 should outlast a couple of transmissions.

    Fred.

Fred, He said it had a rod knock. Ended up being a bad injector. The trans was "okay" but a friend of mine owns Ultimate Truck Performance in Camarillo and he set me up with one of his built Transmissions.

Your post is an encouragement to all those who don't think they can get into truck camping because it is too expensive.

Like you said...you have to be able and willing to apply some elbow grease but the benefits are evident by the smile on little guy's face.

    Great Job!

The camper is also a budget build. Found the camper a few years back crushing a Dodge Dakota. Nothing worked. offered him $800.00. Got it home and found that the battery was hooked up backwards. Everything works great. Even the generator fired right up.

I was about to recommend Morgan before I saw your last post.
    He "loves" the 7.3s
