Hey if you come across a topic that has been discussed many times before, then why not just skip over it and move on to the next topic?
Nothing wrong with that. You're obviously trying to help. It's the people who get mad at the newbies and scold them and tell them to check the archives that bugs me. If the topic doesn't interest you - for whatever reason - there is no rule that says you have to respond at all, least of all with a smart-alec remark.
