Low Point Drain Valve Replacement

The picture is not my trailer but the low point drains on mine look very similar to these only mine are closer together and have black screw-on caps. Last trip one of mine was leaking so I want to replace them with something more reliable and easier to open and close than a screw on cap. Would Sharkbite ball valves work for something like this or should I stick to something plastic since they are exposed? It would be nice to find something at Lowes or Home Depot so that I could replace them today. Thanks

  • Decided to go with the actual Sharkbite brand at Home Depot. Love how it turned out, no more leaking caps to unscrew.
  • One of my plastic ones was leaking, so replaced it with a similar push on from Lowes. Worked great. I didn't use the ball valve, but many people do. The ball valve just causes the drains to hang a little lower than they normally would due to the slightly longer fitting.
  • So this should work? http://www.lowes.com/pd_254909-2140-10153152___?productId=50067747&pl=1&Ntt=ball+valve

  • I just put screw on ball valves on where the caps were. I hated those caps.

    Sure, or SeaTech compression fittings.
