Can you do something with tire/wheel size? If so your suspension and other systems would not be affected. The OP does have a 2WD so lowering properly would be fairly easy and inexpensive. Blocks would do the rear, springs and maybe spindles for the front? Maybe a combo of truck slightly lower and pin box/hitch adjustment would work best.
I think 8" clearance is more than the normal recommendation but the more the better.
