Several things can and do happen when towing with a lowered truck.
#1. As mentioned they will bottom out sooner.
#2. It will affect camber. The more you lower it the more it will affect camber. I don't know how much adjustment the Dmax has in the front end.
#3. It can affect bump steer depending on how low you go and the geometry change it makes.
My advice: Make as small of a change you can make to achieve your goal. The bigger change you make the more of a chance bad things can happen. In any event, "I" definitely would not go over a 2" drop.
