Lowpoint drain question

Here is a picture that shows the bypass valves for the water heater and the camper's lowpoint drains at the right. When I pull up on the rings the valve pops to a different position, but water does not drain even though I have opened every faucett in the camper and the pressure relief valve on the water heater. Can anyone familiar with this type of drain valve tell me what the problem might be?
  • Looks the same as my low point drains. I just pull up the rings and they drain. As others have said, I would check for caps and try to back flush them.

I'm assuming you have water in the lines.

Is it possible that the lowpoint drains are capped outside?

That's my first guess. The only other thing I can think of is the low points don't extend below the under belly and are draining into it.
  • Interesting, I have never seen this set up. I need to get under the trailer to unscrew covers on my low point drains.

What happens if you close all the other faucets and valves, turn on the water pump to pressurize the system, then pull the rings? Get a little pressure behind it to blow them out?

That's what I do and it's also the last thing I purge after running antifreeze thru the line to get rid of any water that might be at that low point in the lines.

  • Maybe climb underneath and try to back-flush these valves with a power squirt from a garden hose?
  • Either a defective valve or the valve is plugged with de rise, many times plastic shavings from the water tank manufacturing process.
