I like the low profile and reduced weight of the aluminum Uni-strut. Looks like a nice job on the install.
I've carried two mountain bikes up there. I had to twist the handlebars 90 degrees, but they traveled fine. We've also put a 15'4" canoe on the rack. The canoe was slightly heavier than the two bikes, about 75 pounds vs. 64 pounds, but neither arrangement was very noticeable. I'd do it again without thinking twice.
