Every spring when de-winterizing I remove anything from the trailer that wasn't used the previous year. Usually that's very little because we don't carry more than we need. (Last year I removed all of the sockets except the two sizes that are actually useful on the trailer - tire lugs and water heater drain plug.)
When I buy something for the trailer, how compact it is and how much it weighs are primary considerations, just after adequate functionality and just above country of manufacture, and well above price. (If you don't carry much, you don't have to worry as much about the cost of what you do carry.)
