"I'm just wondering. The first time you have to back UP a hill into a campsite, OR have to stop on a steep grade for a sign or light. How much you will like the stick then. While driving sticks are great. But in heavy traffic, or stopped on steep hills. They ain't so much fun."
I guess so, if you aren't good at driving them right. I grew up with class 8s with 2 sticks, 5 & 4s, 4 & 4s etc. daily driving in Denver and the mtns. My first TV was an auto/gasser. It wasn't long before I figured out that mistake. My only fear is that someday I won't be able to find a TV w/o a stick so this 03 might have to last forever! FWIW, I drive a company 04 v10 auto van to work and it's a 4 spd. I like the v10 a lot but it could stand to have more gears for towing. A v10 6 spd manual would be near the top of my list for a gasser TV. I'd be all over that! Craig
Honestly. I'm good with a stick, However as I say, after driving day, and night 7 days a week, with a stick weighing 80,000 lbs. I'm kind of tired of changing gears. It ain't near as much fun as it once was. I guess if you only have to do it to work, and back or while camping. It ain't so bad. But I've done my time with a shifter in my hand. Pulling the 2 speed trans button, then splititing the top 8. So now that I don't have too, I ain't going to. and as I say, with the new tranys with the paddle manual changers. You have the best of both worlds, Complete control, and no clutch to burn out.
BTW. We changed the clutch in the big truck at 200,000 miles, and still had 85% life left in it. Howd you do?
