So, by abandoning your principles for luxuries, you further lessened the number of manual transmissions purchased...again proving to the marketing people you despise that they are right...the market for the manual transmission is small.
What a strange comment. I like sticks, but it is my fault that less sticks are available.
OK, you win.
You need to reread the entire post so you can view it in it's proper context...and you also are confusing my economic dynamics examples with a personal desire to limit your abilities to purchase a HD pickup with a manual transmission...
Only you can determine if you fit the dynamic you contest. My point was simple. If you caved in and bought a vehicle with an automatic transmission because other amenities were not available in the manual transmission version, you have validated the marketing people...if you had bought something else instead, with a manual transmission, you would have validated your position as a manual transmission devotee...
I am a big supporter of a buyer being able to purchase a vehicle with a manual transmission. The key word is purchase. The 1.5% of the HD pickup market that claim they will buy a manual transmission truck have not been too quick to dig in their wallets, metaphorically speaking, when asked if they were willing to pay for that privilege.
The herd has spoken...they have decided that they like automatic transmissions at a rate of over 98 to 1. They never complained, at least as I recall, about being taken advantage of for decades when they were the "industry standard". They just paid their way...
It is now the time for the manual devotees to pay their way...any additional takers????
