It was a good and civilized derailment. There will be other opportunities. Now I need to go and fix the sink so we can get out and camp soon. - Perrysburg_DodgExplorerBryon I have derailed the thread enough so I will just let it ggggoooo, LOL!
Don - mich800ExplorerWhat have and have not's problem? In the USA you are only limited by your creativity and hard work. If you think you are worth more work harder, start a business, and take some risks. There is no "man" keeping you down unless you let them. That is why people are trying to get into this country. I am not saying there are not those that pigeon holed themselves and now later in life are too scared or risk adverse to make a change because that happens. If you are in an industry that may see significant changes you should be preparing for the future and not hoping nothing will change.
I may have miss read you post and if I did I apologize. - Perrysburg_DodgExplorer"Don
Please take a moment to remind yourself that the Chevrolet Sonic is assembled her in Michigan at the Orion plant."
When did they move the Sonic back to the USA? When we looked at them (at the time they were called Chevy Aveo) they were built in South Korea and AC was a dealer installed option! :E So we moved on.
To the Anti Mexican crowed I say this. The only reason Mexican's are coming here illegally is because there are no jobs for them in their Country. Dad of Four Girls you said "There are many thousands of vehicles built within 300 miles of the Motor City. There is Ford, GM, and Chrysler plants in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Ontario (Canada). This area of North America has significant impact by these OEMs. They pay employees, who pay taxes, buy goods, and volunteer. This effects the communities." Don't you think this would apply to Mexico also? I do not fault any Mexican for wanting to come here. They are no different then you or I, they want a better life for their children! You want that for your daughters right? Well don't you think they want the same thing?
Until there are jobs in Mexico this will keep happening. I'm not saying we should ship all of our jobs to Mexico. I'm also not saying there is not Corruption in Mexico, there is.
But just like here in the States and I bet in Canada, when you have a huge disparity of wealth, the have not's are going to want a little something also. People can close their eyes and pretend there is not a problem or we can work together to fix the problem. You know "you can gave a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Or you can teach a man to fish and he can feed his family."
There are plenty of ways we can fix the problem, that do not require sending our jobs to Mexico. But until the corruption is addressed (in all three Countries) things are only going to get worse.

...and later the Sonic. They ALL manufacture and are in bed with each other so your "I BUY ONLY AMERICAN" is pure BS. But whatever makes you feel good about your choice and helps you sleep at night I guess.
Oh BTW for the record I have nothing against my Canadian brothers to the north. I love their whiskey (Crown Royal) and their Beer (Labatts Blue) :B

Yes, there is a globable economy. Yes, there is NAFTA.
What I realize when I get away from the Motor City, that not everybody understands the auto industry, the complexity, and the resource intense processes. Additionally, many do not even care to know where a vehicle is assembled, or how many a OEM assembles in a state or country. They take little facts (sic) that are posted on the internet and believe them.

Nope no shot intended what so ever. If I gave anyone that opinion I apologize as it was not my intention!
My post was more at the USA boys and girls that are saying "I only buy Made in America". Give me a break, there is no such thing anymore (made in America that is). North America is Canada, USA and Mexico.
Playing the Mexico is a outlaw Country is pure BS. Hell I give their Government props for using " Military helicopter shooting live ammo at drug dealers down a main street". Maybe if this our Countries did this some of these scum bags drug dealers might think twice about what they are doing to our youth.
People piss-and-moan about Michigan locking people up for life for selling drugs. Me, I say execute those dirt bags and lower my taxes!
OK rant over.

Yea-let's use the Military to blow up drug dealers vehicles with the general public near by.
I don't see Americans sneaking in to Mexico to live and work..... - Perrysburg_DodgExplorerNope no shot intended what so ever. If I gave anyone that opinion I apologize as it was not my intention!

How about that probably 5 to 10 million Canadians travel to, or winter in (like I did this year) your country each year?? :S
I spent in YOUR country just this year Don, between $7500 to $10,000 (don't know for sure cause my wife spends it faster than I can keep track)
Multiply that out for all the visitors from Canada???
That my USA friend supports a lot of jobs in your country. :@
Real legitimate jobs, not the type that Mexico creates in the USA.
And I have nothing against my far south Mexican brothers either..
The average Mexican is mostly a hardworking honest person, just overshadowed by the high profile baddies..
