- RollTideCampExplorerIf you live in (or near) a college area the big box stores will usually have the twin size memory foam on sale close to move in time.
Since we are very budget conscious we buy it in the fall and use a lot (4-5 layers) and it sleeps great.

I worry about the added weight on the bed frame in our Skyline. I'd really like to put a pillow top mattress in there but it looks like it would add about 60 lbs to a lift-up frame that seems to defy the laws of physics.

Add a piece of plywood standing on edge in the storage area to 'hold up' the bed. Pretty simple really, just get the plywood cut to the proper 'width' at the store and then you can probably just stand it up and screw it to the existing wood frame of the bed to hold it in place.
We had this in our old trailer and it was actually really helpful in keeping the storage 'stuff' from moving around too much under there as well. - PAThwackerExplorerMemory foam with gel toppers on my hybrid. Night and day comfort difference.
- allen8106ExplorerWe replace ours with a new pillow top mattress from Mattress Firm. They have the "short queen" which is the RV queen.
- HeelshockExplorerAfter measuring I found that we have a "short" queen. There's a couple inches wiggle room, but not enough to fit an 80" queen. I went ahead and ordered this one. Great reviews. If they hold true I think we'll be happy with it. We're looking forward to never sleeping on the Skyline factory back breaker again!

We have a heavy foam mattress. I cut a regular queen down with a sharp serrated breadknife. I also have a Skyline, The "frame" can handle it. It handles that and 350 Lbs of us. - wvabeerExplorerEbay has the exact same as Tempur pedic for around 300 bucks. Best 300 I ever spent.

A 4" or greater foam mattress topper works great. If you have one of the short queens then just take a old kitchen knife, heat it up on the stove, then use it to cut the mattress to length. It leaves a nice smooth edge and no mess.
I found that a very sharp butcher knife will do the same thing without heating it. - Community AlumniA 4" or greater foam mattress topper works great. - Mark_and_LindaExplorerWe bought our trailer used a few years ago. It had not been used very much by the previous owners. I am so glad that they had replaced the mattress with a new queen. We love it...was at one time better than the one we have here at home.
