- Optimistic_ParaExplorerThere are three methods of heat transfer. Convection, conduction, and radiation. Reflectix has NO insulation value as far a convection or conduction goes. It reflects radiation - AND IT NEEDS AN AIR GAP in order to do THAT.

OP asked about moisture barriers. Some affirmative responses above seem to be about something completely opposite to a barrier. A barrier sounds like a bad idea, since it may tend to condense or trap moisture where it's undesirable.
A barrier sounds like a bad idea to me too.- K_MacExplorerAnother nod for hypervent.
- towproExplorerWhen you look at the stuff 2 of us were talking about, it has a way to act as a barrier, as well as allow air flow.
I have the enkadrain with barrier side up, than Reflectix on top of that, than the mattress. - stevenalNomad IIOP asked about moisture barriers. - BubtoofatExplorerReflectix. Never had an issue with moisture.
Mike - gitpicker2009ExplorerMaybe I'm lucky, but I've never used anything like this stuff. I have the factory mattress with a 2 inch topper to make it a bit softer. I recently did lay down Relflectix just to insulate the bottom of the mattress against extreme cold, but other than that- nothing. I've never noticed any type of mold anywhere. Now I do keep a dehumidifier in the TC when not in use and it keeps it at about 50% humidity constantly, and I live in the VERY humid Houston area.
- billyray50ExplorerFew years back I used Drymesh. Similar to Hypervent but cannot find a U.S. Distributor anymore. Now use the pink or blue 4x8 foam board sold at Lowes or Home depot. Works and a lot cheaper than Hypervent.
- towproExplorerI just read about the problem, and my enkadrain cost me $20.00 so I used it.
I also put a layer of that silver reflective isolation under the enkadrain - kohldadExplorer IIINever have and never had a problem. Maybe I don't have a problem because I have a standard RV mattress with a foam topper, not a foam mattress. That or it's because I always have a vent and window cracked so almost never have condensation on my windows.
