mattress replacement

After getting back from a quick 2 night outing, we realize we miss our firm mattress at home. We've added a topper and still not good. This seems to be only aspect that standard (or less) is acceptable that I've found so far with the camper. Any suggestions for a quality queen? Thanks in advance-Mike & Kellie
  • What might make the most sense is to get the same brand and model mattress as you have in the house. If you have a Sealy Perfect Sleeper Extra Firm Sheep Counter Plus Ultra Super, for example, get the same thing for your camper.

If only I could do that in REVERSE. I "upgraded" to a queen size memory foam mattress in the house, and put my beautiful full size firm inner spring mattress in the camper. Now I wish I could get a mattress that firm for the house. Nobody makes a super-extra-ultra firm inner spring mattress anymore.
  • Here's the route we went and we're very pleased with it. And the height even allows the wardrobe closet door to clear the mattress.
Just don't unwrap the mattress until it's in position on the cab over bunk.

    PacBed original
11" mattress (extra cost) plus gel (extra cost) firm foam mattress with gell for coolness. We bought ours 2 years ago at the recommendation of this forum and love it!! Comes shipped in a box. Remove the old mattress, bring the box inside, carefully remove the shrink wrap and voila! Look for PacBed Original RV Queen.
  • We installed a "Double" size Sleep Number Bed back when we purchased our 2011 Eagle Cap 950 custom built at La Grande Oregon without a mattress. The Double is not an RV version and we have never looked back. We love it. However, you do have to adjust the air when you drastically change elevation. The Double size gives us some extra space along the sides where we store extra blankets etc.
