So if you have ST or LT that are load rated, you can safely run lower pressure based on the weight carried. Course that means a trip to the scales to verify weights.
Works fine for a vehicle with tires at the front of the vehicle that steer around corners and the tires at the other end simply following (motorhomes/trucks/vans/suvs).
However a trailer has close spaced axles in the center of the vehicle that actual side slip as the trailer is pulled or pushed while turning. Tire experts and tire blogs and those with hundreds of thousand miles pulling trailers tell us its best to use the max pressure on the tires sidewall. This helps hold the tires shape better as its side scrubbing while turning and run cooler.
Now if newby or someone has severally overtired the trailer say 25-50 percent above the trailers axle rating then max pressure may be too much. Then those minimum pressure for a given load charts can be used. Simply add another 10-15 % above that pressure for a good safety reserve.
