MaxxAir II Vent Cover - Black or White Translucent?

Trying to decide whether or not to get the black tinted or white translucent MaxxAir II cover to go over the Fantastic Fan over the bed in the cabover of my Arctic Fox 992.

I'm leaning toward the black plastic cover since my Fantastic fan did not come with the vinyl Velcro flap that I've seen in pictures to block out light (Anyone know if it was supposed to?) Yes, I could have the DW sew one (or buy one?), but that sounds like a hassle. I have windows on both sides and reading lamps, so I think I'll have plenty of light during the day when I need it.

Anyone think that I would be making a mistake by going with the black cover over the cabover? Also, from the little research I did, sounds like the MaxxAir II is the way to go...anyone have recommendations for a better one? Thanks.

    That was my question......

Me also. Put your hand on a white car in full summer sun, and then on a black car (if you can!). The black cover will block out light, but will absorb heat

3rd option which I took was the smoke color. You can still see through it but it is darkened a little.

    x2 on the smoke color.
  • I bought two white covers for our two fantastic fans. I ended up spraying black spray plastic paint and sprayed the inside of the cover over the bed. Works great.
  • Black is the best for sleeping at Wally world no light comes through.
  • Black hands down. To block out the heat.

I have 3 vents in my RV and they are all black.
One blew off in a storm and the mobile RV did an emergency replacement with a white one. I forgot about and a month later was walking thru the coach and all of a sudden I felt a blast of hot heat on my back......I was walking underneath the "white" vent cover! Color does make a difference.

DW doesn't have to pull out the sewing machine for a cover, pick up one of these RV vent pillows at any camping store. Sticks right in the vent opening. No messy velcro tabs to stick up all over your RV. Makes a big difference in keeping the heat and cold out. And it will also keep the light out too if that's a plus for you.

  • We have the black Maxxair II over the Fantastic Fan above our bed. Love it!

Comes in real handy during our 24/7 daylight in Yukon!
