You need to cover all the bases with removal of any signs of DEF into and downstream of the DFCM for future possibilities...Ford will spare no expense down the road to produce or invent any possible reason to void warranty on the fuel system...
so it's okay for the customer to falsify warranty issues but when the company does it they're the ones that are evil.
utterly shameful
WRONG! You're so far off base with this assessment, you haven't seen the ball since kick-off.
Ricatic never came close to alluding to what you claim he did. He simply said to see if the problem could be fixed without any permanent damage before getting Ford involved. If Jim was able to fix the problem on his own, then no harm, no foul. Clearly he wasn't, so it becomes an insurance claim/out-of-pocket expense situation, and not something that Ford should be responsible for fixing under warranty.
Ricatic has every reason to throw Ford under the bus. In my travels around these forums, I've never once seen him to be anything other than respectful, honest, and knowledgeable, and willing to provide some insightful information whenever it might help somebody out. All of his problems with Ford were well documented. I've never seen him do anything other than what was right, and I don't believe he ever expected anything other than reciprocal treatment from Ford.
He has claimed to have personal knowledge of turning several million dollars worth of sales away from Ford. He can add me to that group. I'm in the market right now for a new truck, and I absolutely REFUSE to buy a new Ford because of their handling of situations like Ric's. It's a shame, too, because I like the look of the Ford trucks, and I like what they bring to the table, but I'm not getting stuck with a potential $20K repair bill because Ford refuses to do the right and honorable thing by their customers. Someday they'll lose enough sales that it might finally sink in.
Regardless, Ric was spot-on with his comments, and Jim has been spot-on with his handling of this bad situation.
Peace.
