I own a 99 International with 300hp and 860 torque, 22.5 tires and 4:44 axle rating. It has basically only towed 2 different 5th wheel trailers, consistently given 7.5 to 8.5 mpg over the 112,000 miles. It does exactly what it was built to do, move and stop a heavy trailer. Fairly quiet inside at speed, but not something we wanted to drive every day, so we bought a car to follow when the truck was parked we had a car to sight see in. When the truck was new, none of the pickup trucks could come close to the towing specs, now seems many are way past these spec's. My truck has been excellent as far as repair costs go, practically nil. Original brakes, all engine components and other than tires, and new shocks all the same stuff it was built with. Brakes are huge and will stop the trailer without the trailer brakes operating, not as fast as with them working, but they work great. Hope you like the drive of the Freightliner, as they do ride better than my International, and for sure give better economy.
