No need for a 2-year wait...You just have to put out the effort to search 'em out!
I found what I want in a ready-to-roll MDT. I hope the OP can too.
It's whatever rings your chimes.
Some folks have done their own singling.
(Even Randy, "The Professor" form the tech Issues forum here.)
HDT ride far surpasses MDT.
HDT intended for long time over-the-road comfort.
MDTs were designed for "in-town" trucking.
Often there are "ready-to-roll" HDTs on Escapees.
"Raquel" (on HDT forum) happily owns and drives one of those formerly owned by a guy who lives in HI (he kept it stored it in AZ).
No mods were necessary.
Also dependent on where you hang your oldman hat.
In CA an MDT will ring "different chimes" ("ka-ching") in the way of license fees, due to NO non-commercial or private truck.
(It's a CA "BOHICA")
By comparison - in CA, the cost of some nice HDT mods will be offset by the MH license fee for the *first* year.
(MH registration vs *req'd* commercial registration)
Yeah - you can license in SD or TX - but that's another can of "been there done that worms".
BTW - being an "informed"(?) MDT kinda guy - surprised you didn't suggest 2L to the Texas OP..:h
