Ram offers gas powered 3500 pickups with a 6-speed auto. Probably a good choice, given your commute. Enjoy shopping.
I like all of the Ford/Chevy/RAM pickups. I currently own a 2005 RAM 1500 Quad cab and it has given me 8 trouble free years so I am leaning towards a RAM one Ton but the new 2014 chevys look nice as well. The only negative of the Ford 250/350 for me is the crew cab is 7 inches longer than the RAM crew cab. I know that doesn't sound like much but I park in a very tight spot in a parking garage and I'm right at the corner where cars come down a ramp. My current truck already sticks out pretty far and I don't want anyone hitting my future new truck!
Although for now it looks like the Ford 6.2 gas motor is the best choice as far as power and torque. I don't think Chevy has released the specs on their 2014 6.2 direct injected engine yet. RAM is also rumored to be putting a 6.4 Hemi in the 2014 3/4 and 1 ton trucks but I have been hearing that rumor for the last several years. I guess time will tell.
