WOW - that's a real horror story!
Yeah, I know. I don't know how people do it...some tow big Airstreams with Caravans. I just don't see how.
I even put lower profile tires on it to get in the power band, low rolling resistance tires, air dam under the trailer to reduce resistance, emptied everything out...
It just didn't have enough power whenever the slightest incline presented itself. And again, add the wind...even against a round tiny Scamp...and it felt like there were 10 Scamps behind me.
It's a shame...I loved that van and it matched the Scamp well. It FELT great. It just had no giddy-up-and-go at elevation with wind and hills.
Pulling with a vehicle with enough power to zip up hills makes vacation 1,000,000,000,000 times less stressful...and I used to LOVE being "that guy" who made inadvisable things work.
But when you have a tiny trailer and STILL can't make it down the highway at ease, what's the point?
Nowadays I go out of my way to AVOID the headache rather than invite it.
I guess that comes with age. And wisdom.
