Mirror Extensions

After towing my trailer a couple of times now I am realizing that it would be best to get some extension for my mirrors.

Anyone got a recommendation of a brand they like for 2013 Chevy Silverado?

Thanks in advance.

I used the CIPA models that locks in place with ONE bolt. These slip over the original mirrors like a glove... They did just fine with no vibrations or anything...

Since I don't pull my fifth Wheel anymore they are still in the original box and stowed in my RV TOOL box...

I don't need extended mirrors pulling my off-road popup...

  • We bought our first set for the Avalanche that slipped over the mirrors, they were called custom towing mirrors. They looked pretty but were useless. We went to a shop that sells mirrors and hitches only. The ones we got are still black, they look like towing mirrors and are great. There are many choices, it depends on your vehicle, your trailer and your wallet.
  • We have some that slide on and one bolt holds them on, they are great and easy. Not sure the name but they look like the CIPA Custom mirrors which they might be. I think I got them from amazon. Good luck, you should never tow without mirrors.

    Kevin,

We have similar trucks to you may find my experience useful.

I got decent mirror extensions that provided adequate visual coverage and did not look totally "lame". After one trip I took them off and eventually sold the pair. Unacceptable vibration for a setup that looked 'amateurish'.

I opted to go for the towing minors that come on the HD trucks. Called the dealer who choked me with the price - $450 each for heated but no signals or turn indicator chevrons!

Went to ebay and got a pair of extendable foldable assemblies with heated upper mirrors as well as LED signals on the outer side of the housing for $175 for both sides. l paid my friendly electronics tech to install them for me and he charged $60. They work great since 2010. Yes the upper mirrors vibrate a little, but much less than the clip-ons, and due to the size of the mirrors the vibration does not matter. But more importantly l am now such a believer in split tow mirrors that any truck l own will have them - standard or retrofitted.

l realize that I did not answer precisely the question asked, but thought you'd like to consider this option which for me was a far more functional and better solution.
  • Another vote for the McKesh mirrors. We used them when we had the van and HTT. As said easy on, no vibrations when driving.

  • I really liked my McKesh strap on mirrors. Worked well and went on & off easily. Kinda expensive new, but they are readily available on Craigslist. I bought mine for $80 and sold 'em five years later for $75.
  • We purchased ours from etrailer.com. We have a F150, but they have them for all models. We like being able to remove them as they are an issue in store parking lots unless you remember to fold them in.
